100 jaar luchtvaart | KLM, NLR, GKN FOKKER | Campaign & logo design | 2019
NLR, KLM and GKN Fokker will each be celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2019 with a joint, major event at the EYE Film Museum in Amsterdam. The event is also the starting point for numerous activities on the theme of '100 years of aviation in the Netherlands' and a future in which sustainability of aviation in all areas is central.
Commissioned by D&B Eventmarketing, NLR, KLM and GKN Fokker, we developed the campaign theme ‘On the move to a sustainable future’, the 100 years logo and the campaign identity for all communication before, during and after the event.
CONCEPT AND DESIGN Rob Severein
The '100 years of aviation in the Netherlands' campaign identity. Used in both digital and analogue media. In the run-up to the event but also on large screens during the event. And for a wide range of activities afterwards throughout the year.
100 YEARS OF DUTCH AVIATION
The location for the celebration is appropriate. On a site at Papaverweg, not far from the Eye Film Museum, the First Air Traffic Exhibition Amsterdam (ELTA) took place in August and September 1919. Initiator Albert Plesman wanted to make the Dutch public enthusiastic about aviation, after the Netherlands had fallen behind due to its neutral position in the First World War.
The ELTA was the prelude to the foundation of the Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij (KLM) by Albert Plesman, the Nederlandsche Vliegtuigenfabriek by Anthony Fokker and the Rijksstudiedienst voor de Luchtvaart, initially intended to improve the safety of military aviation. Fokker Technologies in Papendrecht is now part of the British company GKN Aerospace. Knowledge institute NLR calls itself the Netherlands Aerospace Center. KLM is the oldest airline in the world still operating under its original name.
